Living Well with Parkinson's

Parkinson’s is part of life; it doesn’t have to be all of it. These are the everyday strategies our members talk about most.

Keep moving

Exercise is the closest thing we have to a proven way of managing symptoms. The best exercise is the one you’ll actually do:

  • Walking: even 20–30 minutes most days helps
  • Boxing and dance classes designed for Parkinson’s, great for balance and mood
  • Stretching and tai chi: for stiffness and flexibility

Check the events calendar for free local classes.

Sleep and rest

Sleep problems are common with Parkinson’s. Members find these help: a regular bedtime, limiting caffeine after lunch, and talking to your doctor if vivid dreams or restlessness are keeping you up; there are treatments.

Eating and medication timing

Protein can interfere with how levodopa is absorbed. Many people take medication 30–60 minutes before meals. Your pharmacist can help you build a schedule that fits your day.

Stay connected

Isolation makes everything harder. A support group, a weekly coffee, a phone call: connection is not a luxury, it’s part of managing this condition. Our groups are free and always open to new members.
